A gift idea for colleagues, teachers, friends or relatives: cookies and jam bags...

Para las galletas se necesita:
  • 1 huevo
Dejar enfriar.

To make the cookies you will need:
  • 1 egg
  • 200 gr of butter
  • 100 gr of sugar
  • 200 gr of flour
  • 2 spoons of milk
Mix all the ingredients and when the dough becomes homogenous, put it in the fridge overnigth. The following day, roll it out with the help of some flour and a rolling pin. Carve out the shapes you like and leave them 10-15 minutes in the fridge (so that they will keep their shape) before placing them in the oven at 170ºC for about 15 minutes. Let it cool.

Si prefieres otro sabor, aquí encontrarás otra opción.

If you prefere an other flavor, here you will find an other option.

To make the orange jam you will need:
  • 1Kg of oranges
  • 250gr brown sugar
  • 250gr of white sugar (the amount of sugar it will depends of how sweet you want the jam. With this quantity it won't be very sweet)
Take out the orange peel avoiding the white part (this is bitter and the jam won't have a good flavor if we leave it), cut it in streaps and boild them changing the water several times to make them softer and eliminate the bitterness. When they are ready, put them in a pan with some sugar to caramelize them. Be carefull, do not burn them!. Set the peels apart.

Take out the remaining white and the seeds from the oranges. Cut the oranges in pieces and put them in a casserole for 15-20 minutes untill the segments come apart. After that, pass them through a potato strainer, put the compost again into the casserole, add the sugar and mix. Let it boild until the compost becomes dense (you can place a drop on a vertical dish, if the drop moves down slowly then it is ready. Add the orange peel. Let it cool and put it in a jar. Boil the jars for 5 minutes.

Empaqueta las galletas y las mermeladas. Yo usé bolsas de celofan, bolsas kraft, arcilla blanca, tela, cordón y cartulinas de colores.

Pack the cookies and the jam. I used a cellophan and kraft bags, white clay, fabrik, cord and colourfull cardboard.

Although Halloween has finished, I want show you what I did for the date, maybe next year you can try it...

Necesitarás:

  • Una calabaza
  • Unas cucharas

You will need:

  • A pumpkin
  • Spoons
  • A marker
  • A knife
Clean the pumpkin and draw a face on it. Cut, carefully,  the eyes, nose and mouth. Make a larger opening at the back (as I show you in the next pictures) in order to easily empy the pumpkin.

Keep the seeds! you can wash, dry them well and oven for 5-10 min until they finish to dry. You will get pumpkin seeds ready to eat.

Probadlo!

During the summer the fruit ripens fast and some times we cannot eat it all before it waistes. Thus, we finally throw it out. In my case I had some ripe plums at home and I decided to make jam with them. It is very simple, fast and delicious. Try it!

You will need 60gr of sugar for each 100gr of plums.

First cut the plums and remove the pit, I left the skin, but you can remove it if you want. Cook the plums very well in a casserole (this step is very important if we want to store the jam at room temperature and keep it longer). When they are ready, pass then through a potato strainer. You will get a kind of purée to which you need to add the sugar.

Put the purée with the sugar on the burner and leave boiling 10 minutes before remove it. Leave the jam cooling down and divide the jam into clean small jars.

And...ready to eat. Try it in a toast with philadelphia cheese, it is delicious!
