Washitape

Reciclando unas cajas de cartón con washitape.
Necesitarás:
  • Unas cajas de cartón
  • Pintura blanca
  • Un pincel
  • Washitape
  • Un poco de pegamento

Recycling cardboard boxes using whasitape.
You will need:
  • Cardboard boxes
  • White paint
  • A brush
  • Washitape
  • Some glue

First, paint in white the cardboard boxes, so when you will put the washitape on the cardboard the design won't show through the whasitape. If your boxes are already white or of a homogeneous color this step won't be necessary. Let the paint dry completely before put the washitape on.

Once the paint is dry, stick the washitape strip by strip. To get a better and more resistant result, add a bit of glue below and above the washitape.

Puedes usarlas para guardar washitapes, sellos...

You can use it to store wahitapes, stamps...

... o simplemente para decorar tu casa.

... or simply as a home decoration.

A gift idea for colleagues, teachers, friends or relatives: cookies and jam bags...

Para las galletas se necesita:
  • 1 huevo
Dejar enfriar.

To make the cookies you will need:
  • 1 egg
  • 200 gr of butter
  • 100 gr of sugar
  • 200 gr of flour
  • 2 spoons of milk
Mix all the ingredients and when the dough becomes homogenous, put it in the fridge overnigth. The following day, roll it out with the help of some flour and a rolling pin. Carve out the shapes you like and leave them 10-15 minutes in the fridge (so that they will keep their shape) before placing them in the oven at 170ºC for about 15 minutes. Let it cool.

Si prefieres otro sabor, aquí encontrarás otra opción.

If you prefere an other flavor, here you will find an other option.

To make the orange jam you will need:
  • 1Kg of oranges
  • 250gr brown sugar
  • 250gr of white sugar (the amount of sugar it will depends of how sweet you want the jam. With this quantity it won't be very sweet)
Take out the orange peel avoiding the white part (this is bitter and the jam won't have a good flavor if we leave it), cut it in streaps and boild them changing the water several times to make them softer and eliminate the bitterness. When they are ready, put them in a pan with some sugar to caramelize them. Be carefull, do not burn them!. Set the peels apart.

Take out the remaining white and the seeds from the oranges. Cut the oranges in pieces and put them in a casserole for 15-20 minutes untill the segments come apart. After that, pass them through a potato strainer, put the compost again into the casserole, add the sugar and mix. Let it boild until the compost becomes dense (you can place a drop on a vertical dish, if the drop moves down slowly then it is ready. Add the orange peel. Let it cool and put it in a jar. Boil the jars for 5 minutes.

Empaqueta las galletas y las mermeladas. Yo usé bolsas de celofan, bolsas kraft, arcilla blanca, tela, cordón y cartulinas de colores.

Pack the cookies and the jam. I used a cellophan and kraft bags, white clay, fabrik, cord and colourfull cardboard.

Tazas

There are lots of tutorials of how to personalize your mugs. After some tries, this is the way I found where the mug looks better and makes the decoration more resistant to the washes.

Necesitaras:

You will need:
  • A mug
  • A permanent marker (I used the ones of Sharpie's brand, but you can try with others) or ceramic paint. The advantage of the paint is that you can mix different colors.
  • Ceramic varnish.
  • If it is necesary, draw your design before.

When you finish your design, let it dry for 24-48h. After that, apply carefully some ceramic varnish and let it dry for 24h. Put the mugs in the oven for 30 minutes at 170ºC and let them cool completely before take them out from the oven.

Although Halloween has finished, I want show you what I did for the date, maybe next year you can try it...

Necesitarás:

  • Una calabaza
  • Unas cucharas

You will need:

  • A pumpkin
  • Spoons
  • A marker
  • A knife
Clean the pumpkin and draw a face on it. Cut, carefully,  the eyes, nose and mouth. Make a larger opening at the back (as I show you in the next pictures) in order to easily empy the pumpkin.

Keep the seeds! you can wash, dry them well and oven for 5-10 min until they finish to dry. You will get pumpkin seeds ready to eat.

  • Cartulina
  • Tijeras
  • Regla
  • Pegamento
  • Boligráfo
  • Washi-tape
  • Recortes, postales o fotos bonitas

When I bought the skin for my mobile I chose the transparent one because I thought these skins are easy to customize and change fast the style. On this tutorial I show you two ideas.

The materials  I used are:
  • Cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Pen
  • Washi-tape
  • Photograph, postcards or magazine clippings

What is the process?

With help of the mobile or the skin of the mobile, draw the contour of your phone. You can improve the lines using the ruler.

Cut over the lines.

Cut some washi-tape strips and paste them on the cardboard. Don’t worry if the edges aren’t perfect, when you will finish, you can cut the extra tape. Don’t forget to cut also a small gate for the camera.

An other option is to take a photo you like and some magazine clippings. Draw the contour of the mobile as before. Place and paste the clippings as you wish. Make the gate for the camera and, you have a new model!

I suggest you some Easter candles: Egg Candles

To do it we need:

- A tin
- Wicks
- Esence (I used the Citronella esence, I like her citric taste and also is usefull to keep the mosquitos away)
- Chopsticks
- Paraffin (You can find it as a block or in drops)
- The shell of the eggs
- In the picture you can't see il but is also necesary a casserole pot and a spatula to mix the paraffin.

First, we disolve the paraffin a Bain-Marie, when it is totally disolved it must be transparent. It is in this point when we have to add some drops of the esence. We place the wick inside the egg shell, then we pour the disolved paraffin and hold the wick with some chopsticks in order to keep it straigth while the paraffin becomes cools. Once our eggs are completely cold, we can remove the egg shell.

¡Listas para usar!

Ready to use!
